| Jim is a 1976 graduate of West Lafayette High School and a 1980 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Management. Jim worked for Indiana Bell and AT&T in marketing before coming to work in Lafayette for Shearson Lehman Brothers. Jim spent five years with them as a financial consultant. In 1990, Jim accepted Tom Reed’s offer to work at Reed & Company, P.C. and do business development and financial planning. In 1993, Jim passed all parts of a uniform examination to become a Certified Financial Planner from the Denver based College for Financial Planning. He specializes in helping individuals with their current investments and retirement planning. He has given talks to various organizations on investing and managing risk. He has worked with College professors, professionals, and business owners in helping them with their investments and retirement. Jim is active in the community and is currently involved as treasurer of the Lafayette Urban Enterprise Association, the Downtown Gridiron Club Steering committee, the Board of Directors for the Community and Family Resource Center, the Board of Directors for the Lafayette YWCA Foundation, the Board of Directors for the West Lafayette Little League, and the Purdue Alumni Association Investment Policy Committee. In addition to being a graduate of Leadership Lafayette, he also previously served on their Board of Directors. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Sycamore Girl Scouts, the Downtown Business Center, and the Long Center for the Performing Arts. He was a past Chair for the United Way Allocations Committee, and served on the Community Foundation Marketing and Public Relations committee, and a past member of the West Lafayette Housing Authority, and the St. Thomas Aquinas Finance Committee. Jim is married and has four children. |
